GALATA

Galata is a 200 m² apartment in Barcelona's vibrant Gracia district that blends vintage charm, mid-century character, and contemporary design. The space itself was a true design canvas, with traditional Catalan vaulted ceilings, exposed brick walls, and vibrant green window frames. These original features provided rich textures and a strong architectural identity, guiding our design approach.

The structural details were kept visible, pairing them with modern interventions for a balanced aesthetic. The state-of-the-art kitchen anchors the open-plan living-dining area. The 27 m² terrace extends the home outdoors, creating a private space for dining and relaxation.

The three bedrooms are designed with maximum comfort and harmony in mind, while the office room offers a dedicated workspace complete with a hammock for moments of playful pause. Indirect lighting throughout the spaces highlights the home’s textures and shapes, while terracotta accents add warmth and continuity.

This project allowed us to merge diverse design influences while respecting the apartment’s historic character, resulting in a space that feels both curated and welcoming.
